LD16 Democratic slate announces unanimous endorsement from Middlesex County Democrats in critical campaign

Princeton, NJ – Tonight, Senator Andrew Zwicker, Assemblyman Roy Freiman and Mitchelle Drulis announced that they received the unanimous support of the Middlesex County Democratic Organization in their campaign.

Zwicker, Freiman, and Drulis have now secured three of four county Democratic organizations’ endorsements, having previously received the unanimous endorsement of the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee and the Mercer County Democratic Committee over the course of the last month. The Democratic slate also received the endorsement of the Princeton Community Democratic Organization. They now head to the Somerset County Democratic Committee convention on March 15th where they are expected to win the endorsement of Somerset County Democrats. Somerset County Democratic Chair Peg Schaffer announced her endorsement of the LD16 Democratic slate.

“Thank you to Middlesex County Democratic Organization Chairman Kevin McCabe and Middlesex County Democrats for your continued support,” said Senator Zwicker and Assemblyman Freiman. “We have consistently fought for the South Brunswick and Middlesex County community by bringing back critical funds to expand the South Brunswick library and the Route 1 shoulder to alleviate traffic during peak commuter times. We will continue to do the work for these communities when re-elected this November.”

Drulis, a small business owner, lives in Raritan Township (Hunterdon) with her husband Michael and their daughter. She has an extensive knowledge and background in government having served as District Director for Congressman Tom Malinowski (NJ-CD7) and as Chief of Staff to Assembly Joe Egan (NJ-LD17), who represents portions of Middlesex County in the New Jersey General Assembly.

“Thank you to Chairman Kevin McCabe, South Brunswick Mayor Charlie Carley, South Brunswick Democratic Chair Khalid Anjum, and Middlesex County Democrats for your support.” Drulis said. “There is so much work to be done, and when elected this November, I will continue the fight for South Brunswick and Middlesex County in the state legislature”.

Since taking office, Zwicker and Freiman have fought for South Brunswick and Middlesex County in the State Senate and State Assembly by passing legislation that:

  • Provided the largest property tax relief in New Jersey history to homeowners and renters through the ANCHOR program – amounting to over $2 billion in property tax relief
  • Made it easier for small businesses and restaurants to recover by providing tax breaks to help them adapt to a post-pandemic economy
  • Provided $500,000 to expand the South Brunswick Library

Zwicker, Freiman, and Drulis are running to represent the 16th Legislative District which includes Princeton (Mercer County), South Brunswick (Middlesex County), Rocky Hill, Montgomery, Millstone, Hillsborough (Somerset County), Branchburg, Raritan Township, Readington Township, Flemington, High Bridge, Lebanon Borough, Clinton Town, and Clinton Township (Hunterdon County).
